Kuhankuono hiking routes

The hiking routes of Kuhankuono are situated in an area of exceptionally large coherent forest, rocks and ombrotropic raised bogs. Presently the route ensemble also includes gateway trails south from Kuhankuono area all the way to the Ruissalo Island in Turku, and the loop trails of Kullaan polku and Karevan kierto in Masku, Rusko and Raisio. Versatile services provided by the local entrepreneurs are also within the reach of groups visiting the Kuhankuono area, which is located approximately 35 km north from Turku.

Kakolanmäki Hill Museum

The whole of Finland is familiar with the notorious prison of Kakola. For 150 years it has detained the most savage criminals in the country. The Kakolanmäki hill is an attraction in itself, providing stunning views as the second highest hill in Turku.

Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum

In 1827 the Great Fire of Turku caused massive destruction, but Luostarinmäki was spared from the flames. Nowadays the old quarter and artisans of Luostarinmäki form a unique atmosphere, where time stands still.

Museum Ett Hem

The museum “Ett hem” is a home museum donated to the Åbo Akademi University Endowment by consul Alfred Jacobsson and his wife Hélène. The museum displays collections of art, objects and furniture collected by the couple.

Pharmacy Museum & Qwensel House

The Pharmacy Museum will lead you into the history of medicine, health and illness. The Qwensel House displays the life and home of the gentry in 18th century Turku.

Sibelius Museum

The Sibelius Museum is the only museum totally devoted to music in Finland. 2 000 instruments of traditional and art musics from all around the globe is exhibited. One room is naturally reserved for Sibelius´s life and work.

Turku Art Museum

Turku Art Museum is after Ateneum the second oldest art museum in Finland. Thanks to its old traditions the Turku Art Museum is one of the few museums whose collections give an overview to the whole history of Finnish art. Currently the museum’s collection comprises almost 7,000 works of art and part of this collection is continuously displayed. It is particularly famous for its old Finnish art, Surrealism and Pop Art.

Wäinö Aaltonen Museum

The core of the Turku City Art Collection consists of the basic collection donated by Wäinö Aaltonen (1894–1966), one of the most important sculptors in the early years of Finland’s independence. It includes drawings, sketches, graphics, paintings and sculptures by the artist, as well as his works from his years at school. In addition to the works of Wäinö Aaltonen, the museum is dedicated especially to modern art.

Vegånia

Vegånia is a vegan street food festival in the heart of Turku, held for the second time 3–4 August 2018 in the Old Great Square (Vanha Suurtori). There is free entrance and the event welcomes everyone to enjoy delicious vegan food and this year also great music program.
