The Finnish Society for Human-Animal Studies (YKES) is the proud organizer of the first international Human-Animal Studies conference held in Finland. Founded in 2004 as a network and established in 2009 as a society, YKES has since organized six national annual conferences, gained critical mass and a notable standing nationally and internationally. YKES publishes an international peer reviewed journal Trace. Trace will publish a special thematic issue after the conference with a selection of best papers presented.

This conference is supported by the city of Turku, The School of History, Culture and Arts Studies in University of Turku, Kone Foundation, and the Finnish Cultural Foundation, Southwest Finland Regional Fund.
